First week down.

Prior to taking this last IDD course of my college career, I had only heard scary, anxiety worthy things about it. I can now say once making it through the first class of the Senior Seminar I no longer have AS severe anxiety rather I am excited and anxious for what is to come. I have learned the purpose of the portfolio. This course isn't for us to reflect and tear apart all of the projects we have done in the past four years, but it truly is to prepare us for our design, professional futures! Though there will be a great deal of work and tedious hours put into the computer along the way, it will be the most appreciated transition into the creative world outside Quinnipiac's doors.

In terms of the product of this seminar, I feel that compared to other majors it will be most worth while. I know with psychology there is a thesis. I'm not sure what it is besides a means of graduating and proof that all of the courses taken for the major have resonated within each student. Besides long hours of work and cramming at the library, I don't believe for future professional endeavors this final project is really necessary. I see the portfolio as important as the thesis but even greater. This portfolio will show all professors from the past how far we have come as designers with their guidance as well as how ready we are for the real world. Not only that, but we will be presenting it to major, important people who could potentially hire us! This is a ticket into a somewhat, smooth transition into any design jobs we may face to come.

This quote serves as motivation for beginning the final semester as a design student. To be a designer means so much to the world and has such credibility. I should feel more fortunate to have such skills where I can impact so many people.
